Can anyone help with writing a letter to landlord? please help. thanks.?

I own a small business and can’t afford the rent anymore due to "Recession". I want to write a letter to landlord asking him to lower my rent a bit so that we can survive the crisis, otherwise, I have to declare bankruptcy.
I don’t know where to start and how to make it works. "One shot kill the bird". thanks.

Keep in mind that your landlord has no legal obligation to lower the rent. You are obligated to the rent you agreed to.

The letter can be quite simple. Just explain your situation and hope for the best.

Note: threats will get you nowhere. They will just piss them off. A lot of people think they can bully their landlords.

Why should Him/Her and their family have to suffer from what is going on with you ? Just ask str8 out if you want it lower but don’t hold your breath

How will bankruptcy solve this problem? You’ll have to move somewhere else, which may or may not be cheaper.

You can ask for a reduction but if you don’t get it and have a lease, you’ll still be liable. Yes, BK may make that go away but you’re sure going to have trouble being in business with a BK.

In order to help you, I would need more information:
Are you renting a business space? Do you work from home?
Did you sign a lease, when, when does it expire?

Filing bankruptcy will not keep you from being evicted. Bankruptcy Action will stay on your credit report for ten years. Most people will not rent to a person who has recently filed for BK. The owner of the place were you are living has bills to pay also. Most people are in a financial crisis right now.

I would call him and be up front with my situation. I would then mail a thank you and confirmation to him, if he says yes.
    Example–
‘Mr Jones, I have been living here for xx months/years. I have never been late with my rent but one time when my wife went to the hospital unexpectedly. You know that I am a good tenant, I do not cause you any problems, we are very quiet, and we get along with the other tenants.

I am requesting for my rent to be reduced by XX% until I can decide what I am going to due about my business. I will be able to start back paying the regular rent amount within XX months.

I hope that he will make an exception for you.
